YOGA
FOR RUNNERS
& ENDURANCE ATHLETES
HELP MEET YOUR MARATHON GOALS WITH THIS
EFFECTIVE CROSS TRAINING
Description
This 8-week series of 1 1/2 hour classes uses the foundations of yoga
to bring awareness to structural and muscular imbalances caused by repetitive
strain on specific muscle groups used in running. Muscles, joints and
tendons that are subject to overuse injury will be he focus. Each week
will have a specific body emphasis, leading to the development of an
individualized post run routine.
About the Teacher:
Christine Felstead has a long history as a 10 km and
marathon runner. In recent years she has become a yoga enthusiast, both
as a practitioner and instructor. Christine uses her personal experience
in working to realign and increase the range of motion in her own body and
shares these insights with her students. Additionally, she has conducted
numerous workshops throughout the GTA and incorporates what she learns from
her students into these sessions. Christine has completed the teacher training
program at Toronto's Downward Dog Yoga Centre.
Participant Feedback:
“I literally limped into the yoga for runners workshop,
suffering from pain in my knees and a deep depression because my injuries
prevented me from running. Christine Felstead showed me stretches and strengthening
poses that have solved the injury, and allowed me to get back -- and stay
up -- on my feet. Once again I'm running -- this time pain and injury free
-- thanks to what I learned in the yoga for runners workshops.”
Jennifer Quinn
"I recently took Christine Felstead's Yoga for Runners course
as a novice runner. It has allowed me to feel confident about developing
a running practice that is self-conscious and particular to my own strengths
and vulnerabilities as an athlete. I have even found that residues from
prior sports injuries have begun to work themselves out, and from this
I am noticing new strengths! What stands out about Christine's Yoga for
Runners program is that it encourages you to take an interest in your
own potential for improved movement, flexibility, and performance. The
best kind of teaching!"
