Help meet your marathon goals with Christine Felstead's effective cross training program
Description
This 8-week series of 1 1/2 hour classes uses the foundations of yoga
to bring awareness to structural and muscular imbalances caused by repetitive
strain on specific muscle groups used in running. Muscles, joints and
tendons that are subject to overuse injury will be he focus. Each week
will have a specific body emphasis, leading to the development of an
individualized post run routine.
About the Teacher:
Christine Felstead has over 20 years experience as a marathon and other common road race distances. She has 12 years of yoga experience and 6 years as a yoga instructor focusing primarily on runners and endurance athletes.
Her work with runners teaches them to incorporate yoga as an effective means of cross training. She has taught hundreds of runners how to incorporate
yoga into their weekly fitness regimen, helping them overcome general tightness, nagging injuries and reducing risk of injury. Most of her students have gone on to meet personal racing goals. Christine and her Yoga for Runners program has been featured in several articles: Runners World Magazine (March 2006), YogaLife (May 2006) , Yoga Fit (Feb 2007) and iRun (May 2008).
Recently she launched her DVD: Christine Felstead's Yoga for Runners(tm): The Essentials also available at Breathe Yoga Sutdio. Visit: www.yogaforrunners.com
Participant Feedback:
“I literally limped into the yoga for runners workshop,
suffering from pain in my knees and a deep depression because my injuries
prevented me from running. Christine Felstead showed me stretches and strengthening
poses that have solved the injury, and allowed me to get back -- and stay
up -- on my feet. Once again I'm running -- this time pain and injury free
-- thanks to what I learned in the yoga for runners workshops.”

"I recently took Christine Felstead's Yoga for Runners course
as a novice runner. It has allowed me to feel confident about developing
a running practice that is self-conscious and particular to my own strengths
and vulnerabilities as an athlete. I have even found that residues from
prior sports injuries have begun to work themselves out, and from this
I am noticing new strengths! What stands out about Christine's Yoga for
Runners program is that it encourages you to take an interest in your
own potential for improved movement, flexibility, and performance. The
best kind of teaching!"
