Iyengar Yoga Iyengar yoga is a method of Hatha Yoga which emphasizes balance between strength and flexibility, the building of endurance, and the development of self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to the more subtle aspects of posture and breath. Each week’s class holds a particular focus, cycling through standing poses, twists, forward bends, backbends and restorative practices. Each week prepares one for the next and there is a cumulative effect over time. Through refinement of practice, students develop the strength, stamina, flexibility and body awareness required to proceed to the advanced levels.
